FOOTREST S 35 NH THONET ALL SEASONS

Of all the cantilever chairs of the Bauhaus era, the S 35 chair, with its lightness, flexibility and comfort, casts a shadow over all that is heavy and inert. In 1930, the modern lifestyle communicated by the S 35 seemed visionary; today, it is part of our mobile and individual lifestyle.

With S 35, Marcel Breuer has succeeded in combining all the functions of a cantilevered tubular steel chair into a single line that also includes the armrests.

Breuer achieved a double cantilever effect with his design: the seat and armrests flex independently of each other.

The bending movement of the seat frame and cantilever backrest towards the backrest is balanced by the flexible armrests.

A matching footrest is available for added comfort - also designed as a cantilever.

The comfortable club chair S 35 was first presented in 1930 at the famous Deutscher Werkbund exhibition at the "Salon des Artistes Décorateurs" in Paris as part of the furnishings for a prototypical high-rise building that Breuer realized with Walter Gropius and Herbert Bayer.
