Description
GamFratesi designed the Epic dining table for GUBI as a sculptural piece of furniture inspired by Greek columns and Roman architecture, and named after the epic poems of antiquity.
Made in Italy from travertine stone, the monolithic form emphasizes the materiality of the stone, the natural beauty of its veins and the vibrant texture of its unique patina - in which a new detail can be discovered with every use.
Inspired by historical examples of travertine construction such as the Colosseum and St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, and the material renaissance of the 1970s in Southern Europe, the plateau combines two simple geometric forms, the circle and the hexagon, with references to the classical Greek column.
Stone options in neutral white or colored burnt red each create a focal point of different intensity, bringing personality to private environments and naturalness and tactility to public interior spaces. Variable heights and diameters within the Epic table series mean that a single monochromatic table can stand alone or be combined into dynamic clusters of varying height and color.
