ROCKING CHAIR GAIVOTA
The emblematic creation of Renaud Bonzon's work is undoubtedly the Gaivota rocking chair, one of the most awarded pieces in Brazil, combining both aesthetics and ergonomics. Winner of the 1988 Museo da Casa Brasileira Prize and the Movesp Prize.
The curves of the seat and backrest were defined while Renaud Bonzon was in the French Alps and was surprised by the imprint his body left in the snow after sitting on it. In the interest of ergonomics, he then sought to reproduce this shape. He paid particular attention to both the dimensions and the balance, making this chair comfortable regardless of the size of the person using it.
In order to preserve the environment, he chose glulam as a manufacturing principle, with the aim of recycling wood scraps.
This process allows for the construction of large curves, and Reno introduced movement into his design.
