Epic elliptical dining table

Description

GamFratesi's new Epic elliptical table features two monolithic columns with an elongated ellipse-shaped top, making it perfect for dining and large gatherings.

Named after the epic poems of ancient times, the Epic table by GamFratesi for GUBI is a sculptural piece of furniture inspired by Greek columns and Roman architecture.

The table is made in Italy from white travertine. Its monumental shape emphasizes the materiality of the stone, the natural beauty of its veins and the vibrant texture of its patina.

Designers Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi say, "The Epic Elliptical Table is a true architectural construction interpreting the solidity of Roman columns in a poetic and even more extreme way. By elongating the shape of the table top, the columns became even heavier and the table top lighter, creating a new balance between the elements while maintaining the coherence of the concept. They continue, "The elliptical top of the new Epic Table is a unique celebration of travertine, offering generosity to the table but also expressing the full materiality of the surface."

Danish-Italian design duo GamFratesi have worked with GUBI since the inception of their studio and, with their own dual heritage, share GUBI's ability to synthesize seemingly opposing ideas - the classic and the contemporary, the understated and the expressive, the manufactured and the unique. Constantly challenging the status quo while respecting what has come before gives their collaborations an evolving quality that is the foundation of their relationship.
